2007

On October 3rd 2007, for the third year in a row, more than 300 students at Kindergarten La Pajarita participated in International Walk to School Day. Children aged 3 to 6 accompanied their parents under a beautiful blue sky on the five block trek that began at La Divina Providencia Church in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Director L.E. Veronica Gpe Gomez coordinated the event and was accompanied by the State Ecology Secretary, C.D.G. Arcelia Sandoval Díaz and C. David Zavala from Semarnat Federal Ecology Agency. During the walk, with the help of the ecology agencies and their parents, students learned about different species of trees and plants along their route. In addition, students played maracas and panderos. The event received coverage by three local TV stations.

2006

Events are planned in:

  • Mexico City
  • Chilpancingo, Guerrero (State Capital)
  • Xalapa, Verazruz (State Capital)
  • San Luis Potosi (State Capital)

They plan to exchange event photos and stories with a "sister" event in Chicago, IL.

The agency is participating in a conference in Bogota as well as "Towards car free cities," organized by World Car Free Network (Prague, Czech republic) and Fundacion Ciudad Humana (Bogota, Colombia).
